It’s been said that unless you’re born with natural speed and agility you’ll never have it. We are here to show you this sort of thinking is just a myth. Year after year, we help athletes become faster and quicker. However, the most common pitfall we see in slower athletes is the lack of proper technique. So, the question is, how do you acquire the correct training for proper technique?

Having a personal trainer is great! However, often times you may not have the resources to pay a trainer or may not be able to train with one. This is where we can help you.

Our goal is to help provide you with the tools and instructions you need to practice correct technique and get faster! So, for about the cost of attending a speed clinic you can train yourself over and over again using your own personal equipment and instructional DVD. Understanding arm action, foot placement, turn over, and proper synchronization is critical for all competitive athletes. This training DVD is a culmination of personal experience and years of training by Coach Willie Smith.  He is an expert at teaching and training athletes to run faster and move quicker. Coach Smith is a New York native who attended Union Dale High School where he was one of the nations top twenty-five running backs.  He was highly recruited by various colleges throughout the country, but wanted to be an Olympic sprinter.  He accepted an athletic scholarship to run track at Auburn University.  He is a two-time NCAA champion in the 400 meter, three time world outdoor champion for the one mile, participated in three Olympic summer games, received a Olympic Gold Medal in the 4×400 relay, and set a world record for the 60-yard dash.  He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.  He has trained various professional athletes in numerous sports and continues to train athletes today.

The Speed Rope is good for athletic and dynamic warm up.  It will get you warmed up faster and the jumping techniques taught in the DVD all support the leg cycling action.  These speed rope exercises train the power steps in the leg cycling action while helping to strengthen the hip flexors.

(1) Six Sided Reaction Ball

Want to improve agility, reaction time, and hand-eye coordination while having fun at the same time?  The SPORTSPEED reaction ball can be used to improve responsiveness, hand eye coordination, reaction time, and agility.  The six-sided, high-bouncing ball is made of 100% rubber. It can rebound off of any hard surfaces including hardwood, courts, walls, and infield dirt.  It is fairly easy to incorporate drills during training, but the drills themselves are harder than they look because the ball bounces quickly and in many different directions.  The athlete has to predict the direction of the ball bounce and react quickly.  The drills are perfect for baseball, softball, but can also be used for any sport that requires quick eye hand coordination.

(1) Ankle Lateral Resistor

Training with resistor bands help improve your range of motion, increase agility when changing directions, and enhances explosive starts and vertical jumps.

They also provide lateral resistance to the muscle so that the athlete over works the muscle group.  This not only builds strength, but also enables the athlete to move faster without the resistance.  This results in more explosive power and faster reactive speed.

Quickness and reactivity help develop the fast twitch muscle fibers.  In order to run faster, you have to develop your fast twitch fibers.  The speed ladder will help you do high intensity, high ballistic speed work.  Your arms have to take a leading role in quick step training.

The use of a resistance harness improves speed, explosive start, acceleration, and over all better agility. This type of equipment is better used when the athlete works with a partner or their coach. Power and speed can be improved through multiple drills of resistance sprinting and the harness works well with these types of drills. There are several training methods that focus on the improvement of speed.  Hurdles play a big part in teaching proper knee lift.
